Paul Atkinson
CEO, Casero

Paul leads the overall management and leadership of Casero. An Internet Protocol industry veteran, he has proven experience and marketing and sales expertise in high-growth environments. Most recently, Paul was Senior Vice President, marketing at Amdocs, responsible for its global marketing activities. Paul also served as CEO of Solect Technology group, acquired by Amdocs for US $1.2 billion in March 2000. He was also President and Co-founder of Southwest Sun, a Sun Microsystems independent sales organization.

Paul is also the Co-Founder of AudienceView Software Corporation, a Toronto-based software company that provides software to sports and entertainment organizations for their customer relationship management and ticketing operations.

Paul serves on the Board of Directors of Clublink Corporation, the Institute for Enterprise Education, the Toronto International Film Festival Group and Variety - The Children's Charity. Paul is active in the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) and is on the Advisory Boards of the Richard Ivey School of Business and EMAGINE, an initiative of the Emagine program at the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy. Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
 
Dr. Randall C. Fowler

Randy Fowler has a unique combination of Wall Street knowledge, technical expertise, and hands-on experience in financing, marketing, and sales. Currently retired from day-to-day business operations, Randy founded Identix, Incorporated, and served as Chairman and CEO until his retirement in 2001. He created and patented the biometric technology (prior to starting the Company in 1982) that enabled Identix to maintain its leadership in creating the Biometric Industry worldwide. He led the Company through its IPO in 1985 (NASDAQ, and later the American Stock exchange) and subsequent financings including a number of acquisitions and mergers. During his almost 20 years at Identix, he became the first Chairman of the International Biometrics Association. In addition, he also served as Chairman of ANADAC, Fingerscan, Australia, and Syvan/Identix Joint ventures. The company was awarded Fast 50 and Fast 100 Companies in Silicon Valley in 1999, 1997, 1996 and 1995.

Dr. Fowler received the Silicon Valley Entrepreneur of the Year award in 1997, the Kjakan Award of New York in 1998, Professional Awards, as well as Distinguished Alumnus award, Univ. of Louisville, where he currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the University. He presently sits, or has sat, on the Board(s) of Directors for several private/public companies, and mentors young entrepreneurs in development of new ventures.

Prior to founding Identix, he held General Manager, Marketing and Sales, and Technical positions at a number of Fortune 500 companies. He taught for several years as Professor of Engineering at San Jose State University. Randy holds patents in electro-optic techniques for biometric equipment, and for Attitude Control & Dynamic Stability for Spacecraft and Rocket hardware.

He earned a Doctorate of Engineering from Stanford in 1969, a master of science in Engineering from Arizona State University in 1964, and a Bachelor of Science from University of Louisville in 1962.

 
Ed Kozel
Former CTO, SVP Business Development, Cisco Systems

Ed is a managing partner of Open Range Ventures, a private venture capital firm active in telecommunications, networking, and Internet start-up companies. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Cisco Systems, Inc., where he worked for 11 years in a variety of roles, including chief technology officer and senior vice president of business development which, under his direction, was responsible for more than 22 technology acquisitions and 25 minority investments. Ed previously worked at Boeing, McDonnell Douglas and SRI International, where he participated in the early design and development of the Internetwork Protocol (IP) model and TCP/IP, packet radio networks and highly distributed information systems. He graduated from the University of California, Davis with a degree in electrical engineering. Ed currently serves on the boards of Yahoo!, Reuters PLC and Red Hat.
 
Bill Lin
Professor, University of California, San Diego

Bill Lin is a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, San Diego.  His research in various aspects of electronic system design and high-speed networks has led to over a hundred journal and conference publications.  He is the recipient of numerous Best Paper Awards at various leading technical conferences and journals, including a Best Paper Award for the IEEE Transactions on VLSI Systems, and he is also the inventor of several awarded patents.  Bill holds a BS, MS, and Ph.D in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley.

 
Janice Roberts
General Partner, Mayfield Fund

Janice Roberts, general partner at Mayfield, brings her many talents to the firm's communications and networking companies. Janice joined Mayfield from 3Com Corporation in June 2000. Immediately prior to joining Mayfield, Janice served as Senior Vice President, Business Development, 3Com Corporation, and President, 3Com Ventures. During her tenure at 3Com, she also led 3Com's Global Marketing Operations and a number of new business initiatives, including its highly successful Palm Computing subsidiary. Born, raised and educated in the U.K., Janice was Managing Director of BICC Data Networks, an early leader and innovator in enterprise networking, prior to its acquisition by 3Com. Janice holds an honors degree in Economics from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
 
Barry Rubenstein
General Partner, Wheatley Partners

Barry co-founded and is a principal of Wheatley Partners. Barry has been investing in technology companies since 1976. He co-founded Woodland (1976) and Seneca (1979), partnerships that invested over $50 million in small capitalization technology companies. Barry was a founder or founding consultant to several technology companies, including Applied Digital Data Systems, Safeguard Scientifics, Inc., Novell, Inc., and Cheyenne Software, Inc., where he also served as Chairman and CEO. Barry holds a M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from New York University.
