| Wireless carriers are more and more focused on increasing customer usage. AT&T Wireless partnered with Tellme to deliver new voice-driven services and launched mLife to reach consumers with new, differentiated offerings.
In just 10 weeks Tellme launched the original #121 voice service for mLife – including applications for stock quotes, weather conditions, and sports scores. In June 2003, Tellme expanded #121 to include VoiceDial, a voice-activated dialing application. Within ten days of launch, AT&T Wireless signed up 30 times more subscribers for VoiceDial than originally projected. |

For a monthly fee of $3.99, VoiceDial customers can store up to 2,000 contacts in their address book and access them quickly through #121 by simply saying “call John Smith at work”. Contacts can be imported from Microsoft Outlook, Yahoo!, or Lotus Notes – or added over the phone using Tellme-developed voice-enrolled grammars. Tellme is fully integrated with AT&T Wireless’ provisioning systems and Tellme call detail records feed into AT&T Wireless’ billing systems. Amid intense competition among wireless carriers, sticky services such as VoiceDial and its network-based address book will help AT&T Wireless retain its most valued subscribers. next: Listen
