Network Operations: Network Manager

Requirements:
• Management/Leadership Experience
• Servant Leadership style (a la Robert Greenleaf)
• Ability to mentor lower levels
• Fosters an atmosphere of collaboration and consensus
• Has successfully managed experienced, self directed engineers
• Effective at prioritization
• Authors organizational process. Digs in and makes processes work.
• Able to effectively estimate schedules
• Plan and provide technical leadership for mid-sized projects.
• Able to initiate projects; Able to provide direction to management on technical matters
• Able to adapt to new ways of doing business
• Strong Verbal & Written Skills; Can work with upper management;
  
  General Technical Skills:
• Knows how to divide and conquer, able to drive detail diagnosis and analysis of complex problems
• Good grasp of UNIX operating system
• Fluent in at least one administrative language
• Can read C and Perl
• Able to provide operational requirements and direction
• Can development and implementation best practices
• Can write basic SQL (nice to have)
  
  Specific Technical Skills:
• Understands LAN HA protocols (ERSP, VRRP, HSRP)
• Understands WAN routing protocols (OSPF, BGP4)
• Understands load balancing technologies
• Detailed understanding of IP and TCP/IP
• Able to diagnosis problems from packet traces
• Strong security design and theory
• Design and configure complex firewalls
• Good understanding of intrusion detection and response
