EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS
I use an Epson 7800. it’s a 24” wide, 8 color inkjet printer that uses Epson UltraChrome K3 Pigments. I only use genuine epson ink and media for maximum archivability.
Most popular media:
- Luster Paper: a photographic semi-gloss paper with a slight texture. I use this exclusively for my own photographic prints.
- Adhesive Synthetic Paper: a matte , self-adhesive vinyl for sign projects.
- Matte Posterboard: a very thick matboard — using this paper savees you the work of mounting your prints.
Ultrachrome K3 Pigmented Ink Prints
The best quality inkjet prints available today are from Epson inkjet printers using Ultrachrome K3 Pigmented inks. These printers make beautiful prints.
I prefer these prints to traditional photographic paper prints. They have a wider range of colors, deeper, richer blacks, and they last longer than traditional photographic prints. According to Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc., Ultrachrome Pigmented Ink prints should last over 100 years before any noticable fading begins to occur.
